Whether you love it, hate it, or pretend to not care, Valentines day is almost here. Even after 8 years of marriage, this holiday is still stressful for me. Taryn is so amazing at gift giving, and throughout our marriage has put me to shame. I always feel like Valentine’s day is the holiday when I need to step it up and do something amazing. This year I have been thinking a lot about those couples that have what it takes to stick it out through thick and thin and make their love endure. This post of Art and Georgia is a good example. These two are so fun together and still can’t keep their hands off each other. I can’t speak for Taryn, but I’m pretty sure that’s how I’ll be 30 years from now. Although I still haven’t figured out what to get her this Valentine’s Day, I have you guys taken care of…

I’m not the biggest fan of Love Day, but any excuse to get flowers works for me. 🙂 I suggest a couples massage for your wife. Us women are crazy about those. Good luck!

I love these photos! I just got engaged last week and would love to do a shoot like this.
My dad, Matt Townsend is a local relationship coach/ speaker and is doing a big Valentine “date night” tomorrow evening. Hilary Weeks will be performing and my dad will speak about “keeping the spark in the marriage” it ought to be a good time. I think they are sold out but let me know if you are interested! That’s where my fiancé and I will be spending Valentines!

I too would love love love to have a marriage that looks like these two in 30 years!! So awesome! Suggestions for Taryn… Love coupons (include funny things like ‘a free pass to buy whatever she wants’), put together a book of reasons you love her, scavenger hunt with all of the places you fell more in love with her, frame a list of 100 reasons you love her so she can see it every day, have the kids help in acting out your first date or your proposal. Just some ideas. I love Valentines days.

Welllllll you should get your wife something sentimental! Homemade gifts are always the best. You could make her dinner, or write 100 reasons why you love her. You could even record why everyone else loves her and put it all together with pictures! ( They may take some time, but getting your family involved would be fun!) Anyway, love your work, love you. I have admired your photography since you did my friends Angela cavaness and Sarah Roberts pictures!! I would love to win this session, we just had our 4th baby and need an updated family picture! Here I’d my idea for your v day gift: I love recreating memories and any wife would be blown away if a husband tool care of getting a babysitter and recreating their first date/ their proposal ( and proposing all over again;) or a memorable date in their past. I like polaroid cameras and picnics. You can instantly document where you go on a picnic. Just an idea. 🙂
Travis I love your work. It looks GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT! As my favorite tiger would say. As for Valentines day, you can do something nice for your wife like breakfast in bed and fill the halls of your house with her favorite song while she eats. Then you can do something else throughout the day if you would like but I think the thing that would mean the most to her is if you told her that Valentines day should not be an excuse to treat her like a princess because everyday our significant other should be treated like a princess. Then ask her what is one thing you can do everyday that will make her feel more like royalty. Just a thought.
This makes me think of my grandparents. When they left this world (within a few short months of each other) everybody commented that they couldn’t just talk about one of them because they were so intertwined as people. That’s what love is all about.

For Valentines day you should get her something sweet (like her favorite treat.) Something to keep (like a love letter with the reasons you fell in love with her, reasons you still love her, and why you will always love her.) And a little something for her to find (like earrings or a necklace maybe?), hide them under her pillow or somewhere she will find them before she goes to sleep. Happy Valentines day, good luck!
I would be SO excited to win this. I love your photography! I liked ya on Facebook and here are some V-day ideas for the wifey. If she is at all into spa services, sending her to get a massage, facial or pedicure would be awesome. Also, if she is anything like me, she would love a heartfelt, hand-written love letter. If you go for flowers, I think more unique ones are best (red roses? boring!) Go for wildflowers or daisies or something like that. It also might be fun to put together a basket of her favorite things (candy bar/treat, lip balm, movie … etc.) because that shows some extra thought. Good luck!

I’m one of those practical people that enjoys the simple things on Valentines. Home cooked meal, a nice card or letter, and something random but helpful like a full car detail. (Especially since my car gets neglected after a brutal winter like we’ve had.) Anyway, good luck!

I would love to win a session for me and my sisters since my parents are out of the country. It would be a lovely present for them. I think you should give your wife a holiday…so she flies somewhere to visit a favorite sibling or friend or other family member, and you take care of the kids. Haha!
